Physiotherapy Service

The service provides accessible, high-quality and efficient physiotherapy/rehabilitation services for NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney patients with the objective of:

  • Supporting/facilitating patients in the self-management of their condition
  • Facilitating and expediting return home from hospital or any other care facility
  • Supporting/facilitating independent living at home
  • Supporting/facilitating return to work
  • Supporting/facilitating participation in an active lifestyle
  • Supporting patients suffering from long-term conditions

The types of disorders/conditions which may be seen and treated by the community physiotherapy service include:

  • Musculoskeletal conditions including degenerative joint conditions and trauma
  • Progressive and non-progressive neurological conditions
  • Complex medical conditions
  • Frail elderly
  • Surgical cases requiring rehabilitation (orthopaedic and other)
  • Generally unwell patients with any of the above requiring rehabilitation including those in community beds commissioned by Norfolk and Waveney PCT.

The physiotherapy staff work across sites. You should always be able to talk to a physiotherapist between the hours of 8.30 a.m and 4.30 p.m Monday to Friday at either the Cranbrook Center, Beccles Hospital, Lowestoft Hospital or the Shrublands Health Centre.
